Em Cada remada, uma sentença, por duas semanas, quatro amigos indígenas empreendem uma longa travessia pelas águas amazônicas. Os jovens viajam plenamente integrados à paisagem, em uma leve canoa de castanheira, desde o igarapé da partida até o rio, atentos aos seus humores e aos mais sutis recados da natureza. Todos os esfoços serão feitos em busca da fonte do arco-íris, conforme uma antiga história contada pelos mais velhos.
No decorrer da jornada, os parentes de diferentes nações – Sateré-Mawé, munduruku, Wapichana e Maraguá –, conversam. conjecturam, dividem responsabilidades, receios, habilidades e memórias. chegam até a questionar o mote da aventura para, aos poucos, reconhecê-lo também como parte de um rito de passagem, algo que os mais velhos um dia já experimentaram.
In Cada remada, uma sentença, that means something like "Each boat stroke is a sentence", for two weeks, four indigenous friends undertake a long crossing of the Amazon waters. The young people travel fully integrated into the landscape, in a light chestnut canoe, from the starting stream to the river, attentive to their moods and the most subtle messages from nature. All efforts will be made in search of the source of the rainbow, according to an old story told by the elderly.
During the journey, relatives from different nations – Sateré-Mawé, Munduruku, Wapichana and Maraguá – talk. conjecture, share responsibilities, fears, skills and memories. they even question the theme of the adventure and little by little also recognize it as part of a rite of passage, something that older people have already experienced.

A travessia pelo rio oferece uma oportunidades de partilha de dúvidas, expectativas e anseios; sobre as vantagens e as desvantagens de viver nos territórios de origem ou nas cidades. Será possível harmonizar a sabedoria ancestral de cada tradição com as tecnologias e expressões da sociedade dominante? Seremos todos nós, em última análise, capazes de reconectar a fonte com a foz do arco-íris?
Esta obra, de autoria coletiva, é como uma semente. Como ilustrador, embarquei nessa com amigos queridos. E o que torna este livro ainda mais singular é que os quatro escritores, amigos de fato, são também os personagens rejuvenescidos pela aventura que eles próprios criaram. E do mesmo modo, todos nós somos, ao mesmo tempo, autores e protagonistas de um tempo, de um espaço e de uma história comum.
Crossing the river offers opportunities to share doubts, expectations and desires; about the advantages and disadvantages of living in their home territories or in cities. Will it be possible to harmonize the ancestral wisdom of each tradition with the technologies and expressions of dominant society? Will we all ultimately be able to reconnect the source with the mouth of the rainbow?
This work of collectively authored is like a seed. As an illustrator I embarked on this with dear friends. And what makes this book even more unique is that the four writers, friends in fact, are also rejuvenated characters by the adventure they themselves created. And in the same way, we all are at the same time authors and protagonists of a common time, space and history.
